Starbucks fans might soon be able to get their coffee fix after a spot of shopping at a new supermarket in High Wycombe.

Work has recently started at the unit next door to the Lidl on London Road, which opened up in October 2020.

Builders at the site appeared to confirm one of the 'pods' was going to be a Starbucks when asked, and could be open before the end of the year.

The budget supermarket was given the go-ahead by the council for the site of the former Homebase back in 2019, and a coffee shop next door was part of the plans.

It isn't clear if Starbucks will be taking over both of the pod units, but it appears that work is only being carried out on one of them at the moment.

There was major excitement when the new Lidl finally opened its doors to customers in October 2020, with shoppers queueing round the block to get inside. But until now, it hasn't been clear what the 'coffee shop' would be.

The former Homebase was initially set to be a Costa Coffee drive thru, with councillors saying yes to the plans back in 2016, but a spokesman for the coffee chain said in 2017 that they would not be opening on the site after all.

We have contacted Starbucks for more details about when the work might be completed.
