Driver ‘misery has entered a new chapter’ after a ‘burst water pipe blew a hole in the road’.

Little Chalfont local Lee Evans reported a “crater” blown in White Lion Road (A404), prompting the need for repair.

Affinity Water is carrying out maintenance there, expected until midnight on Tuesday (Nov 30).

There are also various works happening on the corner of Bell Lane, until Friday.

Mr Evans claimed “heavy delays are inevitable”.

“The White Lion Road misery in Little Chalfont has now entered a new chapter,” said Mr Evans.

“This afternoon (Nov 23), a large underground water pipe burst and has blown a crater in the main road – the A404 – and consequently will now take time to repair.

“This is only 300 yards from the Bell Lane junction roadworks so as you can imagine, heavy delays are inevitable.

“The Bell Lane four-way lights are now being operated manually to try and keep a constant flow of traffic and to prevent a total gridlock.

“As such, no problems now coming from the Bell Lane direction but long delays along White Lion Road proper.

“Many drivers are bypassing the works by using London Road and Nightingales Lane but prepare yourself for delays.”
