A further arrest has been made in the murder investigation following the tragic death of a High Wycombe grandfather, Andrew Ballantyne.

A 27-year-old woman from Buckinghamshire has been arrested today on suspicion of assisting an offender and she remains in police custody at this time.

This comes as last week five arrests were made in the case.

A 24-year-old woman from Hertfordshire, a 32-year-old woman from Chalfont St Giles, a 29-year-old man from Harrow, a 27-year-old woman from Buckinghamshire and a 34-year-old from Northampton were all also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and have since been released on bail.

Mr Ballantyne, 55, was found unresponsive on the ground as his death sent shockwaves throughout the community with him being described as a “Micklefield legend”.

So far, five men have been charged with murder in connection with this investigation.

They are Ramah Lambkin, 24, of Rowan Avenue, High Wycombe, Asher Anderson, 35, of Walton Gardens, Wembley, Daniel Ramsey, 25, of Micklefield Road, High Wycombe, Nickolas Williams, 25, of Gibbs Close, High Wycombe and James Scott, 32 of Hawthorne Road, High Wycombe.

A 31-year-old woman and a 27-year-old woman, both from High Wycombe, and a 29-year-old man from Birmingham, were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender on August 24. They have been released on bail.

A 29-year-old man from High Wycombe was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender on September 3. He has been released under investigation.

The five charged men are expected to appear in court again on December 22, where they will have a chance to plead guilty or not guilty to the charges they face.

If they plead not guilty, a trial will be held at Reading Crown Court. A provisional trial date has been set for February 7.

Should a trial go ahead, it is expected to last around six weeks.

All five men have been remanded in custody, and have been in prison since they were arrested in the summer.
