A man who carried a machete around High Wycombe town centre has avoided going to prison.

Mohammed Aziz, 19, of Fassetts Road in Loudwater, was caught with the dangerous weapon in the centre of town on November 21, 2019, when he was 17 years old.

After he pleaded guilty to possession of a knife blade or bladed article, Aziz was sentenced at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on November 29 this year and managed to avoid being sent to jail.

The magistrates handed Aziz a three-month sentence suspended for 12 months.

Aziz was let off with just a suspended sentence due to his young age at the time of offending and his previous good character before he committed the offence.

Aziz was ordered to pay £300 in costs to the court.

Since he was charged with this offence, Aziz has been convicted of numerous other crimes.

In May 2020, Aziz made off without paying for £70-worth of petrol after filling up at a garage in High Wycombe.

Appearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court in July this year, Aziz admitted the charge and was ordered to pay £30 compensation.

On the same day as the petrol incident, Aziz racially harassed a police officer at Maidenhead Police Station.

At the same hearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court in July, Aziz also pleaded guilty to this offence and was ordered to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work. He was also told to pay £395 in costs.
