A drug transporter has been branded “not the sharpest” after police were able to track him down by literally following their noses.

Police from the Thames Valley Roads Police unit pulled the driver over on the M40 in Bucks on Wednesday morning and found huge quantities of cannabis in his vehicle.

The officers did not need to use thermal imaging, licence plate recognition, or even their vast policing know-how to track car down – all they needed were their noses, because the culprit was smoking the pungent drug with his window open while driving down the motorway.

After noticing the scent while driving down the M40, the quick-thinking officers were able to figure out the source of the smell and pull over the driver, taking a vast quantity of illegal drugs off the streets in the process.

In a post on social media, TVP Roads Policing said: “There was a distinctive whiff in the air along the M40 yesterday morning in Buckinghamshire.

“It didn't take long to find the culprit vehicle.

“The driver wasn't the sharpest tool. Transporting and smoking his cannabis with the windows down.”
