A High Wycombe man has been arrested after a woman was stabbed in the face in what police suspect was an attempted murder.

Two men attacked a woman in a house in Foxhays Road, Reading, where she sustained stab wounds to her face and neck and an unknown substance was thrown over her.

Reports suggested it was an 'acid attack.'

She was taken to hospital for treatment after the assault, which occurred on Friday 17 December at 10.30am, and has since been discharged.

A 33-year-old man from High Wycombe has been arrested and released on police bail.

Thames Valley Police is appealing for two specific witnesses to come forward: a couple who were walking through Foxhays Road onto Wentworth Avenue around the time of the incident.

Detective Constable Emily Pallett, based at Reading police station, said: “We are carrying out a thorough investigation into what happened.

“Through our enquiries, we believe that a couple who were walking through Foxhays Road, may have witnessed what happened or have information that could help our investigation.

“We are therefore appealing for them to please get in touch with us by calling 101, quoting reference 43210568398.

“We’d also appeal to any motorists who were in the area and have dash-cams to please review any footage in case it may have captured something that could also assist the investigation.
