MERLETTO Lounge - that's the name of the new Loungers cafe/bar that could be opening in High Wycombe town centre.

The Bucks Free Press revealed at the beginning of the month that Loungers - a company that describes itself as "bastions of casual dining and drinking" - wants to open up a neighbourhood cafe/bar at 4 High Street.

This is the old Boots unit, which is right next door to the Wheatsheaf - currently undergoing major renovation to turn it into a bar.

Loungers focuses on continental, cafe/bistro-style restaurants which feature board games, daily newspapers and a free neighbourhood book swap facility.

Now, fresh plans have been submitted for new signage on the front of the building - which has also revealed that it will be called Merletto Lounge if it goes ahead.

The signage will be "wine red" and gold, with bi-fold doors in the middle of the shopfront which will be perfect in the summer months.

In a report by Richard Pedlar Architects on behalf of Loungers, allowing the Merletto Lounge to open will "bring the property back into use for the benefit of the public, add vitality to the conservation area and provide an active frontage, and add life and vitality to the streetscene."
