A man who used “abusive and obscene” language on a train has been ordered to pay more than £600.

On June 17, 19-year-old Finley Gangadeen was riding on a Chiltern Railways train between London Marylebone and Beaconsfield when he was caught without a £13.30 ticket.

While on the railway, Ganagdeen, of Whyteladyes Lane in Cookham, Berkshire, used “threatening, abusive, obscene or offensive” language – which is a criminal offence, according to the Transport Act 2000.

When he was brought to Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on December 15, Gangagdeen pleaded guilty to one charge of travelling on a railway without paying a fare and a second charge of unacceptable behaviour on the railway.

The teenager was ordered to pay £13.30 compensation for the fare he dodged, and costs of £223 for the charge.

He was then fined a further £440 for his foul language.
