A Marlow supermarket hosted a food drive for a local food bank.

The drive took place at Sainsbury’s on West Street on January 22 and 23 for the One Can Trust.

The charity has seen its stock levels reach a “critical level” after a busy Christmas period.

There was an “unprecedented” amount of foodstuffs donated to the great local cause.

Jo Belshaw from The One Can Trust said: “Thank you so much for supporting the One Can Trust with a food drive today and again tomorrow.

“Christmas was an extremely busy time as we supported over 700 people per week. As a consequence, our stock levels have reached a critical level with under 2 weeks’ worth in certain lines.

“The donations from your customers today were overwhelmingly generous and will make a significant contribution to addressing our stock levels. Thank you.”

Public Relations Ambassador, Jack Glanville, added: “Sainsbury’s was the principal supermarket partner of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow last September.

“As a result, we as a brand are looking at ways to reduce food poverty and live our new tag line ‘Helping Everyone Eat Better’.

“The One Can Trust are an excellent cause and reflect our brands values going forwards.”
