Murderers, drug dealers and people who made terrifying threats – the worst of the worst were put behind bars in Bucks last month.

Thanks to the hard work of Thames Valley Police, these criminals are now in prison, where they cannot harm the public.

Take a look at the list below to see the names and faces of criminals jailed in Bucks in January.

Murder and manslaughter:

Five men have been jailed for a combined total of 67 years over the killing of Amir Shafique, who was stabbed to death in a mass brawl in Aylesbury.

Murderers Charlie Irwin, 23, of Radnor End, Aylesbury and Nasim Khan, 24, of Ruskin Way, Aylesbury, were both given life sentences with minimum terms of 21 years and 20 years respectively for the killing in October 2020.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Wasim, 20, of Thrasher Road, Aylesbury, Ishmael Shah, 24, of Cotterills Lane, Birmingham and Bertie Turvey, 22, of Henry Road, Aylesbury, were given 10 years, nine years and seven years for manslaughter.

Following a two-month trial, the five men were found to be responsible for Mr Shafique’s death. The court heard how Khan and his allies called in “reinforcements” from Birmingham to attack their victim.

Threatening to blow up a car:

Bucks Free Press: Sajid MahmoodSajid Mahmood

Sajid Mahmood, 38, was locked up for six months after he threatened to blow up the cars of his ex-girlfriend and her current partner.

During an argument over the phone, Mahmood threatened his ex, saying he would destroy her car and send people to her home to beat her up.

Mahmood, of Batchelor’s Way, Amersham, denied two charges of threatening to destroy property but was found guilty on both counts at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court.

Mahmood was sentenced to six months for each offence, which he will serve concurrently.

Murdering a teenage boy:

Bucks Free Press: Alfie PrideAlfie Pride

Alfie Pride, 18, has been jailed for life with a minimum prison term of 16 years after he was found guilty of murdering 17-year-old Lewis Wenman on November 7, 2020.

Pride, formerly of Broughton, Milton Keynes, stabbed his victim to death during a fight in Tyburn Avenue, Milton Keynes.

Lewis was taken to hospital after suffering multiple knife wounds but sadly died from his injuries.

Pride was sentenced at Coventry Crown Court on Monday 31 January.

Cocaine dealer:

Bucks Free Press: Grant MurphyGrant Murphy

Grant Murphy was locked up for two years and eight months after he was found with £1,500-worth of cocaine and £1,760 in cash.

Murphy, 30, of Rainsborough Gardens in Aylesbury, was found to be running a cocaine drug line nicknamed ‘Rico’.

He pleaded guilty to one count of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs, namely cocaine, in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on December 2, 2021.

Appearing at Amersham Law Courts on January 26, Murphy was subsequently sentenced to a total of two years and eight months’ imprisonment.

Letterbox burglar:

Mark Newsome was jailed for three years and three months after he used a stick to steal someone’s wallet through the letterbox of their house, then proceeding to use their bank cards in various places.

CCTV footage taken from those locations allowed the victim to identify Newsome, who he had never previously met.

Following a three-day trial at Aylesbury Crown Court, a unanimous jury found Newsome guilty of one count of burglary and five counts of fraud.

Drug dealer:

Bucks Free Press:

Sakib Husasin, 28, of Chairborough Road, High Wycombe, was jailed for four years and eight months after he admitted to multiple drug offences.

Officers became aware of the offender when they noticed a strong cannabis smell coming from his car.

After searching him and his home officers found a large quantity of cocaine, digital scales, phones and cash.

He pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to supply cocaine, two counts of acquiring, using or possessing criminal property and one count of breaching a suspended sentence.

Concerned in the supply of heroin:

Bucks Free Press:

Armani Francis, aged 28, of Brecon Way, High Wycombe, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of cocaine and heroin as well as being in possession of cannabis, and was jailed for four years.

In July, officers found a large quantity of cash, sim cards, drug-dealing paraphernalia and a small quantity of cannabis at his home address.

Numerous phones were seized with outgoing messages advertising the sale of class A drugs and handwritten notes with a telephone number.

PC Hannah Ransome, of the Stronghold team, based at High Wycombe police station, said: “Drug supply will not be tolerated by Thames Valley Police and I hope this sentence reflects the seriousness of this offending.
