A drunk driver almost smashed into the back of a police car on busy Bucks A-road.

Officers arrested the driver who "smelt strongly" of alcohol on the A41, Tring Road in Aylesbury.

The driver now faces a lengthy disqualification for being four times of the legal limit.

The car was also seized after officers discovered it was uninsured.

A Thames Valley Police social media said: "One of our officers had a lucky escape in Aylesbury when this car nearly crashed into the back of their police car on the A41 Tring Road as they checked another motorist.

"The driver smelt strongly of alcohol and was immediately arrested at the roadside.

"The driver provided an evidential reading of 163ug in custody (over four times the legal limit) and now faces a lengthy disqualification from driving.

"It also transpired the car had no insurance and it was seized under Section165RTA

"The dangers of drinking and driving should never be underestimated.

"If you are concerned about someone drinking and driving, or witness concerning behaviour or driving, please call us (999 in an emergency)".
