Firefighters cut a man free from his car after it overturned on the M40.

In the early hours of Monday morning, the southbound carriageway was shut between junction 2 (Beaconsfield) and junction 1A (M25 interchange) as emergency services attended the incident at around 12:30am.

The road was closed for several hours.

A Bucks Fire and Service spokesman said: "One appliance and crew from Beaconsfield and two from High Wycombe attended, along with an officer.

"The firefighters used lighting and released one man from the car who was handed into the care of South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS)."
