High Wycombe Audi driver dodges jail for drink driving

Fakhri Barhoumi, 36, of Woodcock Avenue, High Wycombe, has been sentenced to one year and three months, suspended for 18 months, after he admitted to dangerous driving and drink driving.

On December 11, 2021, at around 8.30am, Barhoumi was driving along Priory Avenue in an Audi A3 when he crashed into the back of a BMW waiting at a junction.

He continued onto Priory Road and turned into Benjamin Road, where he hit a parked Peugeot before mounting the pavement and crashing through a fence and road sign.

Barhoumi continued on his demolition derby, driving downhill and causing a Toyota to swerve out of his way, which then crashed into another car as it attempted to avoid him.

The drunk driver swiped two more cars before he came to a stop on Coombe Lane when his car had a mechanical failure. It was at this point he was arrested by police.

Barhoumi was sentenced at Aylesbury Crown Court on Tuesday 8 February. He has also been banned from driving for three years.

Investigating officer, PC Alistair Bennett of the Joint Roads Policing Unit, based at Amersham Police Station, said: “The sentence delivered by the court sends a strong message to those considering drinking and driving and it will serve to reassure the public that the police and Justice System take these matters very seriously.

“Barhoumi had no previous convictions and will now have to live with the consequences of his actions.

“This conviction comes as a result of the great work of the team during Op Holly, the annual campaign over the Christmas period cracking down on drink and drug drivers.”
