A warrant for the further detention of an 18-year-old has been obtained following a stabbing in Milton Keynes.

The court order was granted in the morning of Sunday, February 13 from Oxford Magistrates’ Court and will last until the evening of Monday, February 14.

This comes after an 18-year-old man from Milton Keynes was arrested on Friday, February 12 on suspicion of murder following the incident near the junction of Palace Square and Rainbow Drive in Leadenhall, where a 16-year-old boy died after being stabbed.

A Home Office post-mortem examination took place today and the cause of death has been ascertained as a stab wound to the back of the chest.

Formal identification has not yet taken place, and the victim’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers at this time.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Shearwood of Thames Valley Police’s Major Crime Unit, said: “This remains a fast-moving and thorough investigation, and I would again appeal to anybody who has any information that may assist us to make contact with us either online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43220064415.

“The thoughts of Thames Valley Police remain with the family and friends of the victim.
