Firefighters were called to a crash between two vehicles on the M40 at junction 3 and helped release a man who was "medically trapped".

Rush hour traffic was backed up as fire crews from High Wycombe, Gerrard’s Cross and Beaconsfield were called to the scene.

Three men were already out of their vehicles when they arrived but one other man was trapped.

Medically trapped means a person is effectively trapped in their car due to injury, as opposed to the crash damage preventing them from getting out.

A spokesman for Bucks Fire and Rescue said: "Appliances and crew from High Wycombe, Gerrard’s Cross and Beaconsfield attended a road traffic incident involving two vehicles.

"Three adult males were out of the vehicles on arrival. One male adult was medically trapped.

"South Central Ambulance Service assisted in a controlled release. Incident handed over to the Highways."

South Central Ambulance Service has been contacted for comment.
