A popular sports podcast that focuses on stories told by former and current professional footballers is shot in Marlow.

The Late Kick Off podcast, which is aired live every Sunday evening on Marlow FM, has seen childhood friends in Jack Gifford and Ali Gray speak to famous names in the industry such as former Manchester City, Sunderland and Queens Park Rangers defender Nedum Onuoha, and ex-Reading captain and Championship winner, Graeme Murty.

Other notable names that have appeared on the show include several members of the Wycombe Wanderers squad, such as David Stockdale, Jack Grimmer, Joe Jacobson and David Wheeler, along with manager Gareth Ainsworth, and assistant manager, Richard Dobson.

And after celebrating the podcast’s first anniversary in January this year, the duo hope they can continue to grow as the season goes on.

Jack said: “We first started to cover local clubs in the area which was brilliant, as we started to get a small following from the local team’s supporters.

“Things were going well but we wanted to gain a larger amount of following.

“We started to interview players from our clubs such as Mark Bartley from Marlow FC and then we managed to get a few of the Wycombe players on such as Stockdale, Grimmer, Jacobson and Wheeler which was brilliant.

“They were superb and for Ali and me who have been Wycombe fans for years, it was a pinch me moment for both of us. Especially when they said they had listened to us before.”

On the reason why they started the podcast, Jack continued: “We have always been interested in a player’s career path from how they started to where they are now.

“This is the structure for our episodes with guests.

“This was working and we were starting to make a name for ourselves.

We then wanted to take one step further so we then interviewed players from other clubs who aren’t based in Bucks.

“We have had the likes of Simon Cox, Conor Washington and Nedum Onuoha on the show which has been brilliant.

“The highlight for us was having Richard Dobson and Gareth Ainsworth on.

“We have both been massive football fans for as long as we can remember and have both been going to watch Wycombe for 17 years.”
