Part of the roof at Hughenden village hall flew off at around midday into the car park towards the village store and coffee shop.

The collapsed roof caused damage to the outside seating area by the shop and park area.

It has also caused there to be water damage inside the building, with worry long-standing harm may be caused to the village hall's professional Marley dance floor.

The floor has now been mopped with protective matting set to be used whilst the roof is fixed as "clearance and repairs are being organised."

The site has been closed down with entrances to the car park and playground taped off.

A tree next to the village hall has also been blown over in the high winds.

One man at the site said the help from the community has been "fantastic" as "everyone has rallied around".

No injuries have been reported from the incident.

Cllr Steve Broadbent has taken to social media and said: "Please keep clear of the Hughenden Village hall site after Storm Eunice caused the roof to come off.

"The site is being made safe.

"Clearance and repairs are being organised."
