At the time police described the incident as "terrifying" as the girl was approached from behind when she was walking through the wooded area of Gerrards Cross common near the A40 on July 29 at around 5pm.
The man was then said to pull her to the ground before sexually assaulting her.
After the incident, police increased their presence in the area and described the offender as a white man, approximately 5ft 11ins, of average build who was wearing a dark coloured tracksuit top and bottoms with the hood up over his face.
A police spokesman said: "Following a full and thorough investigation, Thames Valley Police has filed this case pending further information coming to light.
"We have conducted many lines of enquiries and no other similar or linked offence has ever been identified."
