Next closed in High Wycombe as its 'glass roof damaged' from strong winds

Firefighters were called to the store on Crest Road in Cressex to make the scene safe after high winds caused structural damage to the building this morning.

The car park has now been shut off and signs have been placed in the store to let shoppers know of the closure.

Omar Smith, who was at the store when the fire crews arrived, said: "The whole building had been cleared of people and the car park was cordoned off by the fire and rescue service.

"I couldn't see the damage from the outside but according to one firefighter the glass roof has been damaged by high winds and they were making it safe."

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for strong winds in the area following Storm Eunice's destructive impact on Friday (February 18).

The sign in the shop window said: "Sorry for any inconvenience but this store will be closed today.

"The nearest NEXT store is located on the Eden Centre."
