PLANS to extend a three-bed property have prompted concerns it will overshadow neighbours.

Mr Chatur has submitted to Bucks Council a planning application for 36 Shelley Road, High Wycombe.

Plans detail the construction of a single-storey front extension, and a two-storey wraparound rear extension, as well as raising the roof in relation to a loft conversion.

Mr Chatur also intends to install roof lights and carry out internal and external alterations to the property. There are three parking spaces.

Many properties on Shelley Road have also had alterations and extensions, creating a “varied street scene”, documents state.

But Cllr Lesley Clarke said the scheme is “overdevelopment” that creates a “light issue” for its neighbours, adding a lack of planned bin storage could be a “problem”.

Council officers, however, consider the scheme “acceptable” as it “will not significantly impact” neighbouring properties or the character of the area.

“This is a very large extension of this three-bedroomed property to a five-bedroomed property,” Cllr Clarke. “Its overdevelopment compared to the neighbouring properties on either side…does cause a light issue.

“The front of the property shows a parking layout for vehicles, there appear to be no planned drainage from rainwater run-off.

“There is no planned bin storage and as the property is built to the boundary on both sides, this could be a problem.”

Three objectors fear “overlooking” and ‘loss of light and view’, adding the scheme is “overbearing” and that a skylight is “out of character”.

The scheme is recommended for approval.
