A golf course near High Wycombe has been regarded as one of the best in the world for its sustainability.

Wycombe Heights Golf Centre, which is based in Loudwater, has been successfully reaccredited as Golf Environment Organisation Certified for the next five years, highlighting the club’s continued commitment to sustainable practices.

This announcement follows the recent completion of a water retention project, including the building of a new 10,000 cubic metre reservoir.

This resource means that Wycombe Heights will not need to draw any water from the mains when watering the golf courses through the warmer months.

General Manager, Sarah Blunden, said: “We are delighted to have been reaccredited as a GEO certified venue.

“Whether it be energy usage, water retention, or ways of working, we are constantly looking at ways to reduce our carbon footprint and become more sustainable.

“The GEO (Golf Environment Organisation) platform is fantastic and shows just how far the industry has come.

“It gives us the opportunity to look at our golf club differently and make changes to working practices in order to continue progressing as a business.

“As we move forward, we will continue to look for new ways to become more sustainable, through the implementation of things such as solar panels and electric car charging points.

“We will also look to work with our greenkeeping team to transition our maintenance equipment into hybrid or electric powered alternatives.”
