A man was rescued from a fire at the Old Tea Warehouse last night (February 24) as a large emergency response was seen in the town centre.

At the height of the blaze, there were seven fire crews at the scene following the blaze in the supported living accommodation on Station Close.

The incident saw Amersham Hill, the A404, close for a number of hours from around 6.15ppm as firefighters dealt with the fire on the second floor flat of the three-storey block.

One bystander saw around 20 people standing opposite the accommodation with some wrapped in foil blankets after being evacuated.

Initial suggestions from residents are that the fire was started by an oil pan incident but this has not been confirmed by Bucks Fire and Rescue.

Crews returned to the scene overnight to carry out a reinspection to check for hot spots in the building.
