A 70-year-old man who brought a fake gun into a Bucks pub has been fined.

Sean Murphy, of Parsonage Close in High Wycombe, was fined £40 and had to pay £119 costs following a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on February 16.

The court heard how on December 18, 2020, Murphy brought an imitation firearm to the Lions of Bledlow, a pub in Bledlow, near Princes Risborough.

The magistrates were told how Murphy had no lawful authority or reasonable excuse for carrying the fake weapon.

According to the Firearms Act 1968, it is illegal to carry any kind of firearm in public without legal authority or reasonable excuse. This includes imitation firearms.

After he pleaded guilty to the charge, Murphy was fined and ordered to pay costs. The justices also ruled that the fake weapon should be forfeited and destroyed.
