PLANS to bulldoze a vehicle repair shop for flats have been rejected.

Bucks Council has refused an outline planning application by Mr Tollja to overhaul Excel Motor Services, on Bellingdon Road, in Chesham.

Plans had detailed the demolition of the existing building and redevelopment of the site to provide nine flats, with a commercial space on the ground floor and a basement car park.

But the council found the scheme “inappropriate”, leading to an “overly dominant” development.

“The necessary scale of the building to provide the proposed quantum of development, given the site constraints, would be out of keeping and inappropriate, leading to an overly dominant and intrusive building,” a council document.

Adding: “The Preliminary Ecological Appraisal dates back to June 2020 and thus would not reflect the latest ecological situation on site. As such, there is insufficient information to demonstrate that the proposal would conserve and enhance biodiversity.”
