MAJOR plans for huge housing numbers and a new relief road have come forward.

Barratt David Wilson Homes Southern (BDW) has proposed a major housing and highway development in Iver that would transform an entire area.

A new relief road would be built between new junctions on Langley Park Road to the west of Iver High Street, and Thorney Lane North to the north of the Ridgeway Trading Estate, plans suggest.

The developer also aims to build up to 500 new homes as part of its plans, as well as a new primary school, a care home, new shops, and a public open space.

New pedestrian and cycle routes between Iver Railway Station and Iver Village are also proposed.

The developer said it will “fully fund” the relief road and build it within two years, should Bucks Council give it the nod.

BDW claims there is public support for its proposal, especially to cut down on HGV through traffic.

It will push for the scheme in the new Local Plan, it said.

“When we previously consulted on our plans, 85 per cent of respondents recognised the case for an Iver Relief Road to reduce HGV and through traffic on the High Street,” a BDW spokesman.

“Our commitment is clear, that a relief road remains entirely deliverable and can be fully funded by us as a developer.

“Whilst we recognise Buckinghamshire’s Local Plan is in the early stages of preparation, we strongly believe there is a strong case for bringing this forward in the future.”
