THE QUEEN'S Jubilee is proving the perfect muse for schoolchildren to get stuck into an essay competition.

Beaconsfield MP Joy Morrissey has written to all local schools inviting them to take part i this year's event.

The Commonwealth Essay Competition is held annually to engage young people to write and reflect on a particular theme.

The Queen's Platinum Jubilee year as prompted organisers to set the theme as inspirational leaders and to explore the 'positive impact that can be achieved through committment to their communities'.

Anyone aed 18 and under in the UK can enter, with two categories including the seniors from age 14 to 18, and juniors under age 14.

Mrs Morrissey said: ”The Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition is a fantastic way for young people to showcase their skills, learn about the Commonwealth, and join in the Jubilee celebrations. I am very much looking forward to seeing the essays submitted from local schools.”

The top two winners from each category will win a trip to London for a week of educational and cultural activities, culminating in a special Awards Ceremony, usually held at Buckingham Palace and hosted by the Society’s Vice-Patron, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.
