An England football manager joined Wycombe Wanderers Walking Football Club (WWWFC) for a training session in Flackwell Heath.

Stuart Langworthy, the manager of England's over 60 walking football team, provided advice and guidance to the players.

In 2017, Stuart was appointed as the Walking Football Association (WFA) over 60s England manager and in 2019 also took on the role of interim Over 40s Women’s Manager.

He is also now a director of the WFA.

Richard Williams, WWWFC secretary, said: “We are very appreciative that Stuart found time to come and coach the club, the members thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we hope to have another session in the spring”.

Walking football is one of the fastest-growing sports in the world with over 140,000 people playing the game in the UK.

In the past few years the England set-up has grown to 8 teams, an over 50s, 60s, 65s, 70s and 75s men's team and an over 40s, 50s and 60s women's team.

There are also eight regional teams that help identify new talent for both the men's and women's teams.

WWWFC has around 50 members and play twice a week competing in the Thames Valley Walking Football League playing against clubs in the South of England such as Oxford Town, Watford FC, Aylesbury.

The club is linked to Wycombe Wanderers Sports and Education Trust, so if you would like to give walking football a try get in touch with WWSET on 01494 455736 or via email at community@wwfc.com.
