A driver who was caught speeding at more than 100mph on a busy dual-carriageway has escaped with just a fine.

Alexander McCarry, aged 26, reached speeds of up to 103mph on the A421 Tingewick Bypass in Buckingham on June 11, 2021, far exceeding the 70mph speed limit.

The driver, of Wulfstan Close in Buckingham, was sentenced at Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on March 23 after he was found guilty of speeding by single justice procedure on December 30, 2021.

At the sentencing hearing, McCarry was given a £307 fine and ordered to pay up £124 in costs.

Despite the extreme speed, the magistrates allowed McCarry to keep his licence, but did endorse it with six penalty points.

If the offender accumulates 12 or more points within the next three years, he could face a lengthy driving disqualification.
