Only one week to go, until Amersham Old Town hosts its new, monthly artisan market.

The new Amersham market, run by Coopers Markets, takes place on Easter Sunday April 17 at 10am-3pm on the Broadway section of the High Street, which will close for traffic.

Markets after that will be held every third Sunday of the month.

Foodies are treated to a mouth-watering range of cheese, jams, bread, air-cured meats, quality olive oils, a variety of deserts and gin - and all businesses are proudly Chiltern based.

Already 20 businesses have signed up for a stall at the first market, while future markets may host as much as 40.

Kim Bates, co-founder of The Grocer Shops, said: “We’re delighted to support the launch of the Old Amersham Artisan Market.

"With so many wonderful hospitality venues from Michelin starred restaurants, Sunday lunch spots and eateries to cosy bistros and wine bars there are so many reasons for people to visit and enjoy everything that’s on offer.

"A monthly market is a wonderful opportunity to meet up with friends and family, support the local producers and try some of the fabulous food and drink on offer."

The Covid pandemic and lockdowns have undeniably hit everyone hard, and many businesses in Bucks have struggled to stay afloat.

Chair of Amersham and Villages Community Board and Bucks Councillor Mark Dormer said: “We all know how tough the last two years have been for our local retailers, pubs and restaurants, by bringing a new regular artisan market to the Old Town we are helping to increase local footfall, whilst at the same time supporting Chiltern based food producers.”

A variety of hot drinks and seating area will also be available

Diana Halley, co-owner of Fabric Boutique in Old Amersham, commented: “Whilst Amersham already has a thriving local community supportive of our boutiques and interiors shops, the new Artisan Market will also help to entice visitors from further afield.

"To be able to showcase and promote our fantastic shops in the Old Town is a large part of the work of the ROAR consortium (Revitalising Old Amersham Retail), so the addition of a monthly market day is truly great news for us all."

Parking will be free on the market Sunday.
