A High Wycombe firefighter along with his friends will take on a 'gruelling' exercise challenge this Easter weekend to raise money for charity.

Dave Herron is partaking in a 24-hour HIIT (high-intensity interval training) task on Saturday, April 16 at the Eden Shopping Centre, where he will complete a ‘Joe Wicks’ based workout on the hour every hour in aid of SSNAP (Support for the Sick Newborn and their Parents).

The charity, which is located at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, supported Dave and his family 12 months ago when their baby boy, Joseph, was born.

He had hoped to have raised £500 for the cause, but at the time of writing, the fireman has managed to see £845 come through already.

He said: “They were there for us when Joseph was born in May last year and helped us through some very traumatic times.

“I would love to give something back to them as a way of saying thank you from myself and my family.

“And the best way I can see fit to do this is to push myself and others to our complete limits by taking on this challenge.”

Martin Realey, Charity Lead for SSNAP added: “We feel extremely honoured that firefighter Dave and his amazing group of friends have decided to support SSNAP by taking on this incredible 24-hour challenge.

“We are so pleased that we were able to be there to support Dave, his wife, and his gorgeous son Joseph at a time when they needed us most last year.”

This year also marks the charity’s 40th anniversary as they continue to help premature sick babies, their parents, and their guardians.
