An "unsightly" footpath that had been blocked by fly-tipping and fallen trees has been restored to its former glory.

Huge piles of fly-tipping, dead trees and overgrown hedges have been removed from the footpath running between Berryfield Road and Woodfield Road in Princes Risborough by Buckinghamshire Council

As part of the clean-up process council workers and specialist contractors cut back and removed overgrowth and took away a large amount of rubbish including household items and builders’ materials.

Signage has now been put up to deter fly-tippers from dumping rubbish there again - warning them that they will be prosecuted.

Peter Strachan, Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Environment said: “Sadly, much of the problem with the blocked path was man-made with individuals choosing to dump waste there rather than dispose of it in the right way.

"We hope that now the path is clear, people will want it to stay that way.

"We would urge anyone who spots fly-tipping activity to report it to us via FixMyStreet.

"We will investigate all incidents and will prosecute any cases where the perpetrator can be found.”
