A warning has been issued to parents and dog owners after a sinister trap was discovered in a shallow waterway.

The trap, consisting of dozens of nails sticking out of a piece of vinyl, had been placed in the bed of a brook in Hawkslade, near Aylesbury.

A quick-thinking Aylesbury grandmother removed the trap from the stream after her grandson, who fortunately was wearing wellington boots, found it while he was wading in the water.

The grandmother reported the incident to the council, which praised her on social media, as well as warning other waders to watch out for other "nasty" snares that could be hidden nearby.
