Knight Frank, who are marketing the huge 51-acre estate along with Beauchamp Estates, said it has been a popular place to visit by key figures from American and British high society over the years.

Bucks Free Press:

The incredible 10-bed mansion was built in the late 18th century and expanded in around 1890.

It now boasts landscaped gardens, a wine cellar, library, China store, drawin room, indoor swimming pool, sauna and gym in a special pool house, staff accommodation and a guest house with five further bedrooms.

You'll particularly love this place if you're a fan of floral patterns, because you can find them in nearly every room - on the walls, the curtains and even a bed.

According to Knight Frank, the estate was bought in the early 1900s by the Marquis and Marquise d’Hautpoul who added a wing and erected lacy wrought-iron entrance gates, given to them by Queen Alexandra, a close friend who visited the house regularly.

Fifty or so years later, Lord Esher - who was the chairman of the National Trust - and his wife Lady Esher, an American zinc and iron heiress, asked their architect son Lionel Brett to improve the place.
