The final will take place on May 19, with Fabio Piras and Mehreen Baig being the other two judges.

When describing their 'Beauty in Black' piece, Leila and Zara said: "We used a variety of different recycled plastics to fit with the kids against the plastic theme.

"We use dry cleaning bags and dust cover sheets to make the skirt.

"We also used shirt collars for the waistband which we sewed together.

"For the bodice, we upcycle an old tank top which we then added ruffles created with old white carrier bags and bin liners, coat hangers were used to make the parasol and we used old Christmas tree pearls for the gold accents.”

Evie Bird, who co-jointly produced the 'Washed Up' piece, said: "Our skirt it composed of layers of recycled plastic bags to reflect the rippling waves of the sea.

"Our main technique is plastic bonding so the colours flow into each other like water and the materials we used for the top are old wrappers and melted plastic boxes to get different shapes.”

And on the 'April Showers, Rebecca Salinger said: "I created my dress with circular cut out plastic water bottles to create the raindrop effect and used a recycled piano cover to create a forest green background for a forest effect.

"I came up with the idea for the name April Showers after the Disney song.”
