‘ONE of the most haunted pubs in Bucks’ will undergo a revamp.

Bucks Council has granted a variation of a premises licence to the aptly -named Spirit Pub Company (Services) Limited for the Boot and Slipper in Amersham.

Greene King acquired Spirit Pub Company in 2015.

Spirit Pub Company must however honour certain conditions on the new licence, including a Noise Management Plan.

A hearing on the license due to be held this week was cancelled as agreement on terms between the council and the licence holder was reached.

The licence was also considered in light of planned refurbishment works, which is a separate planning issue and still pending decision, said cabinet member for housing, homelessness and regulatory services, Cllr Nick Naylor.

Inside there will be alterations to the bar, and some minor changes to seating.

A new rear garden area with pergolas and covered seating is also proposed.

A mobile bar unit is also mentioned for outside.

The pub is considered locally as “one of the most haunted buildings in Buckinghamshire”, according to its website.

“This licence has been granted with conditions, including that the applicant must put in place a Noise Management Plan,” said Cllr Naylor. “The conditions were agreed with Environmental Health by the applicant and, as there were no other objections made to the application, the scheduled hearing was no longer required.

“There remains a planning application decision to be made regarding the premises. The planning and licensing functions are separate statutory regimes and as such licensing decisions are not bound by planning decisions (and vice versa).”
