A KFC customer was so disgusted at the state of a Wycombe restaurant he "couldn't eat anything" - and said the chicken restaurant should be shut until they "sort themselves out".

Mark Goddard visited the KFC at Wycombe Retail Park in Wycombe Marsh on Sunday, April 24, but was shocked at the state of the restaurant.

He said his visit got off to a bad start as there were chips "all over the floor" outside the front door, despite being metres from a bin.

He added: "When I walked in, all the tables were dirty with rubbish all over them and rubbish all over the floor. The bins were all full up with the trays on top also full of rubbish.

"It was so dirty, I couldn't eat anything from there.

"When I told someone at the counter that all the tablers were dirty and needed cleaning, they just told me they were too busy to clean tables.

"If it's that dirty on the tables, how dirty are the kitchens? Parents go into KFC with their kids, God knows what they could pick up.

"If I was health and safety I would close the place down until they sorted themselves out. I won't be using them again."

The KFC at Wycombe Retail Park hasn't been inspected by food hygiene officers since September 23, 2019, but its last rating was 5, or "very good".

A KFC spokesman apologised for the mess, saying Mark had clearly visited at a busy time for staff.

Bucks Free Press:

They said: "Oops – looks like we got papped during a busy period this weekend but that’s no excuse.

"We have rotas in place to ensure our restaurants are kept spick and span as well as daily litter picks for the surrounding area.

"However, what happened here certainly doesn’t meet the Colonel’s high standards and we’ll be sure to remind teams of these processes even when super busy.”
