The police have issued a warning after a recent spate of anti-social behaviour in Flackwell Heath.

There will be extra patrols in the coming days to deal with an increase in reports of eggs being thrown at moving vehicles.

One incident saw a teenage girl who only just passed her driving test recently had her car egged late at night on Straight Bit.

The village's new boxing gym also saw their building egged as they were preparing for its grand opening.

Officers are currently working with the local businesses to prevent the sale of eggs to young people who are "likely to act in an anti-social manner".

A police spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police is aware of an increase in reports of anti-social behaviour in the Flackwell Heath area where eggs are being thrown at moving vehicles.

"Police Sergeant Oliver Brixey (Rural Neighbourhood Policing Team) states that throwing eggs at moving vehicles is both anti-social and dangerous.

"We take every report of anti-social behaviour very seriously.

"The local Chepping Wye Valley Neighbourhood Policing Team will be out on patrol over the coming days to tackle this anti-social behaviour and we are currently working with the local businesses of Flackwell Heath to prevent the sale of eggs to young people who are likely to act in an anti-social manner.

"I encourage anyone taking part in this activity to stop immediately as this is a criminal offence and is dangerous.

"I encourage the community to report incidents to Thames Valley Police. This can be done on 101 or Online. We are unable to take reports of crime or anti-social behaviour on social media."

Last year, there was been multiple anti-social behaviour incidents at the Straight Bit recreation ground, where racist graffiti was found on a piece of fitness equipment close to the bowls club.

The playground was previously vandalised as the inside area of the climbing wall damaged by fire and new surfacing near the roundabout dugout.

In October 2021, a private security company was hired by the parish council to tackle anti-social behaviour in the village.

On a visit to the playground, councillors were also shocked to see two swings had been stolen along with the ground surfacing underneath and the wooden frame badly damaged.

The Flackwell Boxing and Fitness Hub, which opened last week, hope that its arrival will keep young people off the streets and out of trouble.

A social media post said: "Sorry for the delay it's just we have been too busy cleaning eggs off this place but fear not hopefully we can get these kids to stop throwing eggs and start throwing one-twos.

"Everyday is a battle in our lives so let's all fight our troubles together through boxing or fitness.

"We want to create a good community feel about the place and will be doing classes to suit all."
