A Section 60 order that was implemented following an attempted murder in Aylesbury has been extended.

This comes after a man in his late teens was stabbed at around 6.20pm on Tuesday, May 10 in New Street.

The man was taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford where he currently remains, and a 17-year-old boy has been Aylesbury on suspicion of attempted murder.

He has been released on police bail while our enquiries continue.

The Section 60, which gives officers greater powers to Stop and Search people in a defined area, was enacted following the stabbing, and it will be extended until 3.30pm on Friday, May 13 in the following areas:

• Buckingham Park Estate, within the boundary of Prince Rupert Drive to the south, the A413 to the east, Martin Dalby Way to the north and Peacock Lane and Beeston Lane to the east.

Superintendent Rebecca Mears, Local Police Area Commander for Aylesbury Vale, said: “I have authorised an extension to the Section 60 to reduce any further serious violence being carried out and target those who maybe seeking to carry weapons.

“The order will cover the area shown in the maps and a further review will be carried out tomorrow.

“We continue to investigate the circumstances of this incident.

“An arrest has been made and we would ask the public if they have further information around the incident and have not already contacted us to please do so by calling 101 quoting reference 43220202328.”
