Jurors have retired to consider their verdicts in the trial of an alleged robber accused of stealing a PlayStation 4.

Prosecutors allege Ezekiel Amusan, 20, stole the games console in Cowley in September 2020 after arranging via online marketplace Gumtree to buy it for £300. He is accused of handing over six fake £50 notes, on which his fingerprints were later found, to pay for the item and various accessories.

Amusan, of Carpenter Close, Oxford, denies robbery and tendering counterfeit currency.

Addressing the court last week on why his prints were found on the notes, he said he’d handled fake cash notes when starring in a music video that was posted to YouTube a month before the theft.

The jury retired yesterday morning. They remain in deliberation and the trial continues.
