A carer in Beaconsfield shaved her long hair to support Little Princess Trust.

Angelika Bryndzej, who works for Signature in Beaconsfield, shaved her head to donate the hair to Little Princess Trust, which was founded in 2006 by the parents of Hannah Tarplee, in memory of their daughter who passed away in 2005 after Wilms tumour.

The charity carries on providing real hair wigs for children and young people in honour of Hannah.

Angelika said: “I've decided to shave my hair because I wanted to do something completely out of my comfort zone that I would’ve never considered before COVID.

“I’ve realised just how precious life is and the importance of truly challenging yourself, a friend actually suggested I should donate my hair to charity following my radical new haircut.”

After shaving her head at home, Angelika posted the donations to LPT so they can be made into a wig.

For Hannah, losing her hair in the course of the tumour was traumatic as she loved her hair.

Her parents searched high and low to find a wig suitable for Hannah during her treatment. When they sourced one, it had a hugely positive effect on Hannah.

Hannah's parents Simon and Wendy felt the best way to honour her would be a charity dedicated to provide real hair wigs for children and young people.

Angelika said: "After much research I came across Little Princess Trust and instantly resonated with their core principles and the meaningful work they carry out for the poorly children and young adults in need of wigs.”

Sandeep Gourlay, client liaison manager at Signature at Beaconsfield said: “All of us at Signature hope that Angelika’s heroic act of hair donation will allow for another child or young person battling cancer or a hair loss condition to feel the small joy of regaining their confidence and hair at a time they are enduring such a painful illness.”
