A shop owner was left with an injured wrist when robbers snatched his watch during a terrifying raid - prompting kind-hearted village residents to help raise cash.

Two men forced their way into the Spar store in Hedgerley at around 5pm on Saturday, June 4.

They reportedly snatched a watch belonging to the shop owner, leaving him with a minor injury.

The suspects were both white and fled in a silver or grey Audi A3.

A message shared by the shop's Facebook page indicates the watch stolen was a Rolex GMT Batman - worth tens of thousands of pounds.

Now, kind-hearted Hedgerley residents are rallying round to help raise cash for Komal and Minesh Patel, who run the shop and provide a vital service for locals.

Zoë Carballeira, who set up the fundraiser, wrote: "I am fundraising to help Komal and Minesh. As a community I feel like they have given us a lot over the past years and now we can help by helping them to raise money for a new watch after it was stolen during an armed robbery at their shop."

Since the fundraiser was launched yesterday, £620 has already been raised.

Glenys Stone wrote: "Such a terrible experience for you, I hope this can help heal it."

Thames Valley Police confirmed they are investigating reports of a robbery and urged anyone with any information, or anyone who witnessed the attack, to contact 101, quoting reference number 43220243852.
