A former church that was shut down when its congregation dwindled is being turned into a family home.

Loudwater Baptist Church on Station Road closed in February 2013 after its congregation was reduced to just two people.

It is thought that the church first opened around 1891.

Since its closure, the tiny church, which is nestled in between homes, has been used as ‘The Make Studio’, although it’s not clear how often this was used.

Now, plans have been put forward – and some work appears to have already started – to turn the former church into a three-bed home.

Plans show the home will also have two parking spaces and a new pedestrian access added.

Some work already appears to have started on site, with plans showing the home will boast an office, shower room, lounge, kitchen-diner, a bathroom and another separate toilet, as well as a utility room and one bedroom downstairs.

The upstairs is small because of the pitched room, so the top floor will feature two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with skylights added in to make it brighter.

Buckinghamshire Council’s Environmental Health department says it will not support the change of use unless an electric vehicle charging point is installed and that the house is properly insulated against sound from the noisy Station Road.
