A busy A-road was once again the setting for horse and trap racing at the weekend, angering locals.

The A413 around Gerrards Cross and Chalfont St Peter has long been used by pony and cart racers at the weekends, regularly causing traffic chaos as drivers try to get around them safely.

There were major issues over the weekend of June 18 and 19, when video shared with the Bucks Free Press showed a number of vehicles, including a car pulling a trailer filled with at least 16 people, and a pony and trap, using the busy road near Gerrards Cross Golf Club.

But the racers were allegedly back and "holding back the traffic" over the weekend of June 25 and 26, with one person sharing on social media that they saw "kids sitting on car windows watching over the roof".

Residents have complained on social media site Nextdoor that they have been putting up with the disruption caused by these races for years.

One person, who lives in Denham, wrote: "We have suffered with this issue for years now. We live on Red Hill in Denham, they block our drive every weekend and the slip road off the A413.

"Large groups of men and kids gathering blocking the road and littering. They drive off out the wrong way on the 'no entry' towards A413."

Another said: "Absolute chaos - driving wrong side of road, up and down verges, the whole works.

"Needs heavy escalation within the police to stop it, because it won’t go away on its own and is doing nothing but escalating as the weeks roll on."

A Chalfont St Peter resident added: "We live parallel to the A413 and could hear the car horns and yelling on Saturday and Sunday mornings from our house. This has been going on for years but has escalated."
