A Bucks school has been rated good in its first Ofsted inspection for 16 years.

Great Missenden CofE School's leadership and management were rated outstanding, the watchdog's top grade, in the report.

The report also labelled the personal development for pupils as outstanding whilst the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes alongside early years provision were judged to be good.

“Pupils are proud to attend this school,” says the report.

“Staff have high expectations for everyone. Pupils listen carefully in lessons and respond enthusiastically when asked to join in.”

“Pupils relish the wide range of extracurricular clubs that they can participate in, which make an outstanding contribution to their personal development. Music provision at the school is especially strong and inspectors were privileged to listen to a rehearsal of the school’s talented rock band.”

Headteacher, Johnny Magee said: “This inspection was such a proud moment for me as headteacher of Great Missenden School.

"The children and staff always work so incredibly hard and it was lovely to have their achievements recognised by Ofsted.”

The report says that the school, with the support of the Great Learners Trust, has focused on strengthening leadership at all levels and that senior leaders are doing all they can to enable the school to flourish.

Great Learners Trust CEO, Rozalyn Thomson said: “Great Missenden School was the originator school of the Great Learners Trust in 2014.

"It is a credit to the school that they have looked outwards and supported other schools to join the trust – including five schools in special measures – and yet have continued to provide a genuinely brilliant education for the children of Great Missenden.

"Very sincere congratulations to the whole Great Missenden team.”
