Two Beaconsfield GP surgeries are finally set to move into a state-of-the-art new building after years of planning.

The Simpson Centre, currently in Gregories Road, and Millbarn Medical Centre, based in London End, will both be relocating over the weekend into the brand new Beaconsfield Medical Centre on the corner of Walkwood Rise and the A40.

Doors at the new two-storey Beaconsfield Medical Centre will open to patients at 1pm on Monday, July 4.

The centre was initially supposed to start welcoming patients to the new premises on May 16, but "technical difficulties" have delayed the opening.

The new location features more consulting rooms, a bigger car park with six disabled spaces, better accessibility including two lifts, an on-site pharmacy and community care staff and medical staff based in the same building.

Although the two surgeries are moving to the same location, the practices will still operate separately from each other, as before.

Patients should continue to contact their surgery as they used to, but will need to remember that any in-person appointments will now be at the new Walkwood Rise location.

The Simpson Centre’s branch surgery, The Penn Surgery, is not moving and will remain in its current location at Elm Road in Penn.

The opening hours for the surgeries will also remain the same in their new location.

Dr Raj Bajwa, the clinical GP chair of the Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group said: “This exciting move is great news for our patients and the increased space means we will be able to easily accommodate more patients as the local population grows.

"The new premises will also give us the opportunity to bring multiple community services together into one space, making it easier for patients to access the services they need.”

Building work on the new centre has been ongoing since around February 2021.

The Simpson Centre and Millbarn Medical Centre need to move to a new location because they have both “outgrown” their current premises, even though they serve a combined 25,300 patients.

The Simpson Centre is to be turned into five luxury apartments, while there are plans to knock down Millbarn Medical Centre and replace it with nine new homes.

On the morning of Monday, July 4, before the new medical centre opens, telephone appointments and calls will take place as normal.
