Buckinghamshire has been voted one of the happiest places to retire in the UK.

According to care home and retirement experts at Lottie, Buckinghamshire is the second most desirable place in the United Kingdom for those looking to enjoy their golden years.

It comes a close second behind Wiltshire, which is in first place.

metro.co.uk shared the research, which also features Dorset, Somerset, the West Midlands, Manchester and Nottinghamshire in the top seven.

It is not hard to see why Buckinghamshire might be a desirable place for anyone to live, with its beautiful rolling hills to marvel at, its historic market towns and independent restaurants to enjoy and a number of stately homes, parks, landscaped gardens and museums to wander around.

The research was based on safety, security, wellbeing and affordability.
