Residents are being asked to keep an eye out for a lost pet snake in a Bucks village that was last seen more than a week ago. 

An alert on Pawboost, where missing and found pets can be reported, says Reubeus the male ball python disappeared from Cherry Tree Way in Penn. 

The scaly pet, which is three foot long, was lost on Sunday, June 26. 

Locals are being asked to keep an eye out for the snake.

According to Reptiles Magazine, the ball python is "quite simply the most popular pet python in the world" and they make good pets because they are "of a small size, are generally friendly, are manageable to care for, and come in a remarkable array of colors and patterns". 

The ball python is also known as a royal python, and is native to West and Central Africa.

Wikipedia says the name ball python refers to its tendency to curl up into a ball when it gets stressed or frightened as a defence strategy. 

A ball python is usually black and dark brown with light brown patches on the back and sides. They have white or cream bellies with black markings.
