A man who stole a car, damaged it, left a threatening voicemail and assaulted someone has been sent to prison.

Luke Soffe damaged a Renault Clio's window while it was in Princes Risborough, causing a dent on February 11 this year, and attacked the female owner of the car.

The same day, he also left an "offensive, indecent, obscene or menacing" voicemail.

This happened just months before he took it without the owner's consent and drove it without insurance in Hertfordshire on April 12.

The 29-year-old, whose address is given as HMP Bullingdon in court documents, was charged with a string of offences and in a court hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' on June 9, he was jailed.

For driving a motor vehicle which had been taken without the owner's consent, Soffe was given a 26-week sentence.

For using a motor vehicle in Waltham Cross in Hertfordshire without third party insurance on April 12 and April 19, he was given no separate penalty but he was disqualified from driving for six months.

For criminal damage to the car window on February 11, he was ordered to pay £300 compensation.

For assaulting the woman on February 11 in Aylesbury, Soffe was given a six-week sentence to run concurrently, and a restraining order preventing him from contacting his victim was put in place until next year.

For leaving the abusive voicemail, he was committed to prison for four months.

His total jail time is 26 weeks.
