A man who assaulted a woman in High Wycombe has avoided going to prison.

Daniel Stevens, aged 30, of Cavendish Close in Little Chalfont, attacked his victim on March 6.

Following the attack, which took place in High Wycombe, Stevens was brought before the justices at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on June 16.

At the hearing, Stevens pleaded guilty to a count of assault by beating.

After hearing the evidence, the magistrates spared Stevens jail. They offered him a chance for rehabilitation by giving him a community order requiring him to attend a 'building better relationships' course.

If the offender does not comply with the community order, he could be brought back to court and resentenced.

On top of the community order, Stevens was also told to pay £180 in court costs.
