A man who threatened to burn down someone else's home has been given a suspended jail sentence.

Khalid Hurst, 33, of Fairfield Lane in Farnham Royal, has been jailed for six weeks suspended for 12 months.

On June 20, Hurst made a threat to another man that he would burn down the supported living accommodation building that he was staying with, intending that the victim would believe the threat would be carried out.

At a hearing at Wycombe Magistrates' Court on June 22, Hurst pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening to damage or destroy property.

At the same hearing, he also admitted to assaulting another victim in Farnham Royal on June 16.

The court heard how Hurst was serving a community order when he made the threat.

After hearing the evidence against Hurst, the magistrates stopped short of sending the defendant straight to prison, instead giving him a six-week suspended sentence so he could continue rehabilitation work.

He was also ordered to pay £25 compensation to the assault victim.
